میجر جنرل ندیم احمد نے دعویٰ کیا تھا کہ افغان افواج کی جانب سے فائرنگ کے بعد 'ان چیک پوسٹوں کو نشانہ بنایا گیا جہاں سے شہری آبادی پر فائر آ رہا تھا۔ ان کی پانچ چیک پوسٹیں مکمل طور پر تباہ کی گئیں اور افغان بارڈر پولیس اور سکیورٹی فورسز کے 50 اہلکار ہلاک اور 100 سے زیادہ زخمی ہوئے۔'

تاہم پیر کی صبح افغان سفیر عمر زخیلوال نے ٹوئٹر پر اپنے پیغامات میں اس حوالے سے پاکستانی اخبارات میں شائع ہونے والی خبروں کی تردید کی۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ 'میری صبح ہوئی ہے اخبار میں لگی شہ سرخیوں سے جن میں پاکستانی اخبارات چمن سرحد کی جھڑپ میں 50 افغان فوجیوں کے مرنے اور 100 فوجیوں کے زخمی ہونے کی خوشی منا رہے ہیں۔'
عمر زخیلوال نے اپنی ٹویٹ میں اس تعداد کی تردید کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ 'حقیقت یہ ہے کہ صرف دو افغان فوجی شہید اور سات کے قریب زخمی ہوئے ہیں۔'


افغان سفیر نے ان ہلاکتوں پر افسوس کا اظہار بھی کیا اور کہا کہ 'اگر اچھے ہمسایوں جیسے تعلقات کی ہماری خواہش حقیقی ہے اور ہم ایک دوسرے کے خیرخواہ ہیں تو دو فوجیوں کی موت بھی بہت بڑی بات ہے۔‘
