Today The Washington Post introduced its new smartphone App for Android™ users, now available for free in Android Market™. The app combines the best in politics, international, finance, arts & culture and local news with the core functionality of the device to create an intuitive, mobile news experience for users. The app also offers visual storytelling, featuring award-winning Post photography in photo galleries and photo essays.

For local users, the app features valuable traffic information, including real-time Metro arrival times and alerts, traffic cams that give live snapshots of road conditions and continuous updates from Dr. Gridlock. The app also has comprehensive weather information, including updates from the Capital Weather Gang, 7-day and hourly forecasts for cities across the globe, and weather maps with radar images and weather alerts for the D.C. metropolitan area.
